Music at St. Paul's

St. Paul’s has a long tradition of excellence in choral, organ, and concert music. Our 28 voice choir is made up of parish volunteers with professional singers as section leaders and soloists. The choir rehearses weekly and sings for the 10:30 Choral Eucharist on most Sundays from mid September through May. The choral repertory runs the gamut of sacred choral literature from the Renaissance composers to the best of the 20th century composers.  Music Director, Steven Rosenberry, leads choral and congregational music from the console of a magnificent 68 rank Casavant pipe organ. Professional instrumentalists are engaged for special services, such as Easter, when a  chamber orchestra often accompanies a mass setting by Mozart or Schubert. The choir’s annual spring concert has offered programs with orchestra in the last few years presenting such works as Mozarts’s Vespers, Haydn’s Mass in Time of War, Poulenc’s Gloria, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Mendelssohn’s St. Paul, and Handel’s Coronation Anthems. Professionally recorded and produced CDs are available for some of these concerts.

In addition to our liturgical music, St. Paul’s opens its sanctuary to host a large variety of community concert events. Our accessible facilities, blessed with excellent acoustics, are a sought-after venue. These concerts constitute a musical form of outreach important to the parish.
