Outreach at St. Paul's
We extend ourselves to those in need.
God is so passionate about the poor and disenfranchised—and therefore, so are we. To this community, the nation, and the world, we extend God’s mercy and justice in myriad ways, from financial support to hands-on activities. For example:
- Feeding the hungry. On the second Saturday of each month, we prepare lunch at the soup kitchen of Grace & Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Arbor Hill.
- Walking for hunger relief. Our parishioners not only participate in the Albany Crop Walk—raising hundreds of dollars for hunger relief—but also hold fundraising dinners, volunteer at Crop Walk rest stops, and help in other ways.
- Serving the homeless. We raise money, participate as board members, and collect needed items for Albany homeless organizations, doing our part to help homeless people achieve self-sufficiency.
- Visiting the sick. Our AIDS Care Teams provide solace and support to people living with AIDS.
- Responding to disaster, anywhere in the world. With our finances and our sales of Bishop’s Blend coffee, we support Episcopal Relief & Development’s work to serve the victims of crises—and to address the systemic issues that create such crises.
- Striving for justice. We educate our parishioners about pressing issues of injustice, poverty, and violence—and how they can become involved. Several of our members participate actively in peace and justice coalitions, labor groups, and similar organizations. Through the Episcopal Public Policy Network, we raise our voices to advance justice throughout the world.
- Acting as ONE. We carry out our entire mission in the context of The ONE Campaign to Make Poverty History.
